So Disney is pulling out all the stops for SAVING MR. BANKS, the story of Walt Disney (Tom Hanks) convincing PL Travers (Emma Thompson) to allow him to make MARY POPPINS. I havent seen the movie yet, but the trailer looks fantastic. Last night they had a sing-a-long at the Polo Lounge with songwriter Richard Sherman (who co-wrote with his brother all the songs and many others). It was Hollywoods old guard (Amy and I were the young whippersnappers!) and it was quite magical. Singing along with Richard are Emma Thompson, director John Lee Hancock (BLIND SIDE), Bradley Whitford, B.J. Novak, Jason Schwartzman. For some reason, Sean Penn (ever warm and fuzzy) was hanging with Emma at her table just to the left of the piano. Richard literally sang every number.
