So. End of my first week back at work. Everyone is lovely & making it feel great to be back in the saddle. However, that doesnt mean every day hasnt been maxed to the gills with work & catch-up work & PT, et al. Whew! So not complaining but just being real. Saw that The Music Box Theater was running Stone Roses: Made of Stone doc ( https://facebook/MadeOfStoneFilm ) was playing so hey - could be better than just cable, right? The movie was sold out in the main theatre so they used the film to test the new Theatre 2 which is all digital with new sound for the overflow from the main room (the mgr actually came out before the film to thank everyone for bombarding him with requests to show this film). As I walk up to the door Im politely accosted by a 30-ish woman asking if I have an extra ticket for the movie...(happily it turns out another punter has one to give to her later on). Someone commented before the flic started that there wasnt anyone under 35 in the room. ;) There were, however, many northern Brits & a few Yanks who had either seen the Roses play BITD or more recently at the gala resurrection show at Heaton Park in 2012. And there was great footage of how this band - who had only put out 2 albums - affected people & how these now mums & dads are still affected by the band & its music today. All & all a nice way to spend an evening, and a reminder that no matter how brilliant a band can be (live & on record) they can be delicate creatures to get the genius outa them. If anything, the film showed how brilliant (certainly live) the Stone Roses were & could be - back then & now. Bittersweet. Cheers kids.
