So Hasan Charaf plotted a very, very sneaky way to force me into doing the ice bucket challenge, therefore upon seeing my nomination, and then hearing about it and then watching him so eagerly prepare my ice water, an audience, etcetcetc,,,, I couldnt help but not take it seriously! But, the reality is, this movement has made a truly beautiful connection between being human and science. ALS is a crippling disease that very little is known about. Its not the only one - but the movement here and now is for it. Scientific research and academia are always amongst the first victims of governmental budget cuts - so that includes research on ALS (amyelotrophic lateral sclerosis - something I actually learned about this semester!). The ice bucket challenge is raising awareness about the disorder and thus helping maintain funds to keep research in the field alive. So thank you Jenna Charaf for nominating me to do the #icebucketchallenge to #strikeoutALS! I now nominate, besides Harun, Sumeja Zahirovic, Amela Trokić, and Almedina Cecunjanin to complete the challenge! Good luck! :DD
