So, Hirame the Pirate had a very bad case of urinary obstruction, which prevented him from peeing. I think he started having a problem peeing Sunday night (12/21) but I wasnt sure. He was eating, drinking and active so I didnt notice how serious it was until Monday night (12/22). I called the vet the first thing Tuesday morning (12/23) and took him in. My vet told me that hed have to have the obstructions removed right away or could very well be fatal. After the procedure, my vet told me to take him to the ER because the vet would be closed during the holidays. (I was very glad that my vet was able to operate on him right away at the vet though.) Hed have to spend the next 48 hours hooked up to an IV & catheter and medicated/monitored. Pets with a urinary obstruction can die in 24 to 48 hours so I guess I made it in the nick of time. Im still a bit of a mess blaming myself for not picking up the symptoms sooner. But seriously, why do all my cats get sick/injure themselves when the regular vet is closed? Oh right, theyre jerks. Merry Christmas everyone! Oh also, a million thanks to Megan for driving me to the vet, taking us to the ER and giving me a ride home! Youre the bestest!
