So, I am a little bummed out. I had a detached retina in 1994 because of disease. The surgeon at the time said (as I was going under anesthesia), I dont know why we are bothering... She will be dead in a couple of months. Of course I was going under and unable to shout, STOP! Dont touch me! Of course he did a very poor job and I had everything from eye drops, kenalog injections into the eye, a stint, and 13 more surgeries before I finally succumbed to the pain of my optic nerve being so inflamed it poliferated my retina (something I should have never experienced but I was unwilling to get an enucleation). Now it has only been four years and I have been experiencing pain for about a year. I went to the ocularist for a better fit and he informed me the pain is because my orbital implant broke through the tissue and is rubbing against the prosthetic! I am like WHAT? I read A Singular View and this was not in there! So I go back to the eye surgeon and I need a tissue transplant! UGH! He says I will not be able to wear my prosthetic for a long time while it heals. Then he says, While your here let me look at you good eye. And within a few seconds diagnoses me with open angle glaucoma in that eye and tells me I need surgery in it too. I am just like UGH! ARGH! CRAP! So, I go tomorrow morning to see if the 6 weeks of antibiotics have helped and I can get a surgery date. Has anyone been through this? What can I expect? Thanks for letting me vent and complain!
