So I am just wondering today...why is it so damned difficult to get coffee companies to support cervical cancer programs for women farmers in Ethiopia and other meaningful projects? Lots of companies pay up for fighting Roya (rust) because they know if there is no coffee the prices will skyrocket and they will have to find new sources...oh, yeah, and the farmers might lose their land... Seems when there is an economic incentive, the companies jump in (at least a little, by and large coffee companies are cheapskates when it comes to helping farmers), but when it is a social good, forgettaboutit! Well, we are still here.
