So, I am preparing myself for what probably will be the job - TopicsExpress

So, I am preparing myself for what probably will be the job interview of a lifetime. Its one of those state jobs that takes forever to work its way through the system. I probably applied for this 10 months ago. I took my test for the job about two months ago and I got my notice to let them know if I was still interested in the job. Now I wait for the interview, and I will get the interview. It being fairly important to me, I want to be ready when I get the call. I put the overpriced dress pants in the cleaners to take the wrinkles out and Im going to take the jacket that sort of goes with it this week for the same de-wrinkle process. Today, I get a phone call from Sears, they want me to come in for an interview Monday. Like I said, Im getting ready for the really important interview so after getting that call, I went out today and got a haircut. I dont know why the stylist even asks you how you want your haircut because youre going to get it whatever way they do it anyway. Despite what I actually asked for, I got what would be considered by most people the job interview haircut. Most of it will grow back. I also noted for really serious upscale job interview, I will need a real pair of dress shoes. Up until now, I have been using this really cool pair of Doc Martens black suede wingtips. From up in the air they just looked like a nice pair of black shoes, but black suede wingtips are probably not serious job interview shoes. Beside that, I really hate to wear them if its raining. Dont want to get water spots on the suede. I asked the question once again, why do mens dress shoes have to be so ugly. While walking around Sears, looking to see what the other sales floor associates were wearing, I looked at mens dress shoes. All I wanted was a plain toed dress shoe. The only thing I liked was kind of expensive. I drove down the road to Kohls to see what they had and their shoes were not as comfortable, more money and mostly just as ugly. So I drove back to Sears and bought a nice pair on clearance that were pretty close to what I wanted and I could live with him. So now its time to go home and play dress up. I want to look as good as I can for this interview but Im not wearing my recently pressed black dress pants. If it wasnt so much trouble to set up the camera and the tripod, and there is not that any place in here where I can back up far enough to get a picture of the entire me, I probably shouldve taken some pictures to get some opinions. Having completed my comparison of various shirts that would go with my black jeans, I kind of made my decision without really needing a lot of feedback. The first thing I put on was one of my new denim shirts. They are relatively classy and the black one really comes off more like a charcoal gray. Add a silver and black tie, and it looks good. Looks really good. I clean up nice. So then, staying with a similar look I went for the gray denim shirt. These shirts are cut nice and have a button-down collar Im telling you they look good. With the same silver and black tie, this combination looks pretty good too but not as good as the black. Even though the interview is only for Sears, for a job on the sales floor, I do want to look good for the interview. One more change of clothing, I put on the gray dress shirt. As much as I thought the black denim shirt with the black denim pants and the tie really classy, once you put on the dress shirt you realize that that is really the best way to go. Oh well, I dont know when Ill have the occasion to wear the denim shirt and a tie ever again, or if ever at all. I really should have taken the picture but I know all the advice would have probably leaned towards the dress shirt. I keep telling myself its only Sears. I have all day tomorrow to figure out which shirt. Geez, dont stress, its only Sears… But wait, this is only the pre-interview interview, maybe I should save the dress shirt for the real interview.
