So, I am seeing these posts on Dont Shop on Thanksgiving. and I want to invite you to think this one through with me. Some of the posts read, Because I believe in family, I wont shop on Thanksgiving. When I was young, dad worked as a farmworker. If you are familiar with the life of a farmworker, you know that it can be seasonal. In many parts of the U.S. there is not much work in the farms late November. Dad would sometimes have to work on holidays as a way to take advantage when there was work. I imagine there are people who may be barely making ends meet and when there is a chance, even if its a holiday for everyone else, they prefer to work because they believe in THEIR family, in their familys welfare, in being able to feed them, turkey or whatever they can afford. I personally think that each of us can decide whether to shop on that day or not, but I am not sure we can judge someone who shops or works on that day, as not believing in family. I am open to learn, so help me understand your position.
