So, I am still thinking about yesterdays Muhammad Ali documentary - TopicsExpress

So, I am still thinking about yesterdays Muhammad Ali documentary that screened last night and trying to understand why we dont have his equivalent today? He was a man who was not afraid to humiliate and publicly put on show those who would not acknowledge his name and religion with respect, and would remind everyone about the reality of the continued white-mans injustice in his country and abroad. He was a strong man of principle and he was not afraid of the consequences associated with holding to his beliefs. He was, and still is, a Muslim who would not sell-out his religion to conform to the good-Muslim image celebrated by the West ie someone who has assimilated, integrated, acculturated, and divorced from their traditions (or outwardly distancing themselves from their traditions). Hmmmmmm, maybe we need to rethink......
