So I am writing a Warrior Fanfiction series (yes as in more than one book) called Warrior Cats Reborn. And basically the story begins a little while after Last hope and where Bramblestar and Squirrelflight get back together and (finally) have kits. And two of their kits Tigerkit and Firekit are the reincarnations of Firestar and Tigerstar so they have that whole rivalry thing going on. And they both fall in love with Spottedkit (daughter of Lionblaze and Cinderheart and YES I know that means they are technically cousins but it doesnt really matter) who is the reincarnation of Spottedleaf x) Sooo I want to know what you think of the Prologue! Particularly you three x) Prologue: The Kitting A low moan lifted into the cool, newleaf air, sending chills down the dark tabby toms spine. He paused in his pacing, breath frosting in the cold air, amber eyes glittering with worry. Across the clearing, he spotted Lionblaze crouching beside his mate Cinderheart, whos belly was swollen with his kits. It seemed like seasons ago that Bramblestar had thought Lionblaze, his brother Jayfeather, and his sister Hollyleaf were his kits. That was before he found out they belonged to his mates sister, Leafpool. Leafpool had been a medicine cat at the time of her kits birth. Her sister Squirrelflight had pretended the kits were theirs (without informing him) so her sister didnt lose her job. It was forbidden for a medicine cat to have a mate and kits. Bramblestar had been devastated that they werent kits... so much so that until recently he has abandoned Squirrelflight. After the battle with the Dark Forest that had taken Squirrelflights father and made him leader of Thunderclan, however, he had reconnected with Squirrelflight and was finally going to be a father. Another pained moan had the hairs along his spine prickling with unease. Youre worried. Leafpool meowed, padding up to sit beside him. A look of longing flickered into her amber eyes as she gazed at the nursery. She wished she could return to her duties as Medicine Cat and work alongside her former apprentice and son, Jayfeather. But though Bramblestar had offered her the position, she had refused saying she had to pay for her disloyalty. Bramblestar studied her from the corner of his eye, seeing signs of her grief in the hunch of her shoulders, the dullness of her eyes. Leafpool and Squirrelflight had lost their father Firestar, as well as Leafpools daughter Hollyleaf. To say he was unaffected by the deaths would have been a lie. Firestar had been his mentor and his leader. A cat he had worked beside since he was an angry, misunderstood apprentice trying to escape his father Tigerstars dark legacy. As for Hollyleaf, he still viewed her and her brothers as his kits and seeing her dead had nearly torn his heart out. Leafpool flinched at the next earsplitting shriek that rang out from the nursery. Shes having a hard time... She meowed, worry clouding her eyes. Her tail tip twitched back and forth, the only sign of how agitated she truly was. Bramblestar started to pace again, fur bushing out so that he appeared twice his size. Around the camp, cats sat in small clusters either murmuring amongst themselves or just watching the nursery with frightened eyes. Despite the late hour almost every cat was up to witness the birth of their new leaders kits. Sorreltail and Brackenfur sat with their daughters Lilypaw and Seedpaw. Their older daughter Poppyfrost joined them with her mate Berrynose, their daughter Cherrypaw, and their son Molepaw. Sorreltail had had several litters before and was a seasoned queen, but Jayfeather had Daisy and Brightheart helping out so she had joined the clan in awaiting the new arrivals. Cloudtail, Brighthearts mate and Firestars nephew, sat with their daughter Whitewing and her mate Birchfall. They were joined moments later by Millie and Graystripe. Even Purdy, the loner who had joined the clan, sat outside the elders den watching on with interest. A sudden cry split the air, and then the angry mewl of a kit rose from the Nursery. There was a moment of silence before the cream colored she-cat named Daisy pushed out of the Nursery and paused to look around. Spotting Bramblestar, she beckoned him closer and Leafpool had to give him a sharp nudge to get him to move. Stumbling forward on unsteady paws, he stopped before her and blinked warily. How is she? He asked shakily. Tired but hanging in there. It will be over soon. She promised, ears flicking as the sound of another kit echoed through the camp. Focusing back on the new father she smiled. Jayfeather said there are three kits, so were just waiting on the last. Ill call you when were ready for you. She turned and bounded back the way she had come, disappearing into the gloomy nursery. It felt like moons passed while the clan waited, holding its breath. Squirrelflight gave one last wail, and then there was silence. Bramblestar froze, straining to hear the sound of the third kit. Silence seemed to stretch on and on. Whats wrong with her? Why isnt she breathing? Came Squirrelflights panicked mew. I dont think she made it. Jayfeather meowed softly. No! No, you have to fix her! Squirrelflight wailed. The sound pierced Bramblestars heart and his tail dropped. And then there was a tiny gasp, and the sound of a kit crying out for the first time. Bramblestar sighed in relief, ears pricking as Daisy and Brightheart slid from the den. Two toms and a little she-kit. Congratulations, Bramblestar. Brightheart purred, brushing by to join Cloudtail. Daisy gave him a nod, then went to join her own mate Spiderleg. On unsteady paws, Bramblestar forced himself to pad slowly towards the den. Slipping inside, he paused and waited for his eyes to adjust to the gloom. Squirrelflight lay panting on her side, fur slick. Jayfeather looked up from where he was crouched by her head, eyes narrowing. Dont stay long. Squirrelflight needs her rest. He warned, rising and leaving the den. Squirrelflight smiled drowsily at him, tail flicking back and forth. Padding forward, Bramblestar gave her a loving lick between the ears, then turned to look at their kits. The biggest of the three was a dark brown tabby tom. He looks like Tigerstar. Bramblestar whispered, thinking of his father. We should name him Tigerkit... Squirrelflight whispered. Its time the name was used right. She added. And that one should be Firekit. Bramblestar touched a flame colored tom with the tip of his tail. He looks like your father. And what about this one? She smiled down at their daughter, who was snow white with dark brown tabby patches. Frostkit. Bramblestar whispered. Squirrelflight smiled and gave a drowsy nod. Perfect names for perfect kits. Welcome to Thunderclan Firekit, Tigerkit, and Frostkit.
