So I bet we were loose and focused for the original make-up game - TopicsExpress

So I bet we were loose and focused for the original make-up game date on Tuesday. That didnt matter as we were short-handed today and we paid dearly for that. We lost, 13-2, in 5 innings. In the things that truly matter category, no one got hurt physically and we finished third out of 19 teams in the league. Oh, and thanks to Chuck and Kathys hard work, we celebrated Fan Appreciation Day. Pat was right: we traveled well, with a good representation in the bleachers waiting for ice cream novelties. How needy were we? Check out this line-up: Chuck led off for Abes and played second. Ryan batted in the two-spot and swung over to third base. Jr batted third and played shortstop. Scott batted clean-up and roamed right center field. Justin batted fifth and slid over to left center field. David rose to sixth and roamed left field; thats what he gets for wearing a hat and sunglasses! Rich came off the DL and batted seventh and caught. Pat Ryan moved up to eighth and played first. Bob Bastress came out of the third base coachs box and batted ninth and held down right field. Nyles batted tenth and pitched a complete game. The offensive report is just that: Ryan, Scott, Justin, David, and Pat all singled. Scott and Justin scored our two runs. Rich Cohen walked twice. Pat drove in the two runs. Defensively, I will admit that I played out of my mind somehow--I guess that mitt that I purchased at the beginning of the season was not too big after all since I needed all of it to snag the running--well, almost running--catch. You will not be surprised that Saturday is our worst day of the week during the last 30 seasons; we win only 13% of the time. We are 1-1 on August 16 now and we have lost two regular-season-closing games in a row; thats not uncommon as we are 8-22 in our final games while I have played. We start our playoff run on Wednesday night at 8 in the gloaming against the winner of the 6-vs-11 game; we play on Liberatore. We are just four straight wins from the championship but no pressure!
