So I decided to move into a well-known hostel in Rio for the last - TopicsExpress

So I decided to move into a well-known hostel in Rio for the last 4 days, the weather hasn’t been great, so this period has all been about partying as much poss. Ive socialised and partied with people from around the world. I’ve had five hours sleep in total from the four days in this hostel (drug free). To say it’s been crazy is understatement. So much ends up happening it’s hard to know where to start with writing something about it. Last night for example I started at a restaurant near the beach with a small group of friends, its Churrascaria style which means BBQ, It’s basically a buffet, plus a massive grill full of fresh meats. After that, a group of about 15 of us headed over to the street party in the area called Lapa. The energy is formidable, you actually don’t need much drink, the place and people get you high, its hard to explain, but even just standing on the streets, it’s like rocket fuel running through the body. There was a small warehouse / garage looking shop front with a Brazilian drum band inside smashing the living shit out of bass drums overlaid with intricate snare rhythms. In a very raw tribal fashion, it’s the equivalent of a rave. People are just getting lost in their own dance. Nothing matters, theres no care, and people just want as much fun as is humanly possible. We moved on from the street party to the club Lapa loca, quite a big crowd and packed with rio energy, The club was a mixture of Live band, Samba, hip hop and electronic. Everyone carrying the street feeling into the club, the place is buzzing. Its then just a constant flow of dancing and laughing and feeling high. I Left the place at 6am, I met an awesome group of Brazilians, we went to the beach, sat at an empty bar, drinking and laughing until we couldn’t drink anymore. After just a couple of hours sleep its time to wake up, dust myself off and do it all again.
