So I did it. I pawned my wedding ring to buy art supplies for my daughter: a small canvas, four tubes of acrylic paint, two new brushes. More than half my life I wore that simple, delicately engraved gold band on my finger; it was as much a part of me as my own skin. One would expect I would feel some sadness in letting it go, especially so unceremoniously as that. What I feel instead: contentment. Watching Faith now at her easel we set up in the back of this temporary landing spot, shaded by the trees above her, as beside her on the hammock a chickadee keeps her company... Well, is there anything lovelier?
