So I did it. I went to my FIRST Black Friday event yesterday. I had NEVER been before and I just felt I needed the experience. You might ask what on EARTH that I needed to put me out in the elements for that torture and you know what? The answer is NOTHING! Honest to goodness, there is never anything THAT WORTH it for me. But our local Walmart had a nice Rachel Ray 15 piece cookware set for $89 and I wanted to buy it for my parents (I wanted one too!) and of course all that new Frozen attire for the little girls in our lives. Was there ANYTHING that I couldnt have lived without? Nope, not a thing! But I thought Id try it out... see what I thought. I was damn near trampled! But in Maine its not so desperate. Were a little nicer, too. But let me tell you, pulling my cart through the aisles was like pulling into 5 lanes of traffic in Boston! It was CRAZY! I bet there was 2000 people at our Walmart in Bangor. Ive never seen so many people! It was funny, though. I got there early so I was in the front of the line, and I was like a squirrel after the last nut. I ran in there, and ran OUT! I got Daddy & Mumma their pan set, though. And Lainey got her new Frozen Twin sheet set, and some Frozen Jammies. I got some 1.74 wash clothes and then after Walmart I went to JC Penney and got a new 5quart lock & travel crock pot (which I needed!) for only $10, a new programmable coffee pot for only $10, and a new 4-slice toaster for only $10! I got everything I went for, but I can tell you, Black Friday is not my thing. I didnt get home until 5am, and I was up ALL night and I was tired. I havent stayed up all night since high school. Its not my gig! Im usually in bed reading by 9pm. It wasnt easy, but it WAS fun. A little Red Bull and a couple coffees and I was okay, but my bed never felt so good. And I just felt I needed to go! I wanted the experience :) So I went... but MYYYY favorite shopping day is TODAY! Happy Small Business Saturday! Shopping small businesses will REALLY make a difference right here at home. And isnt the small business stuff ALWAYS the highest quality stuff? Shopping local really means a whole lot to all of our favorite little shops. Imagine a world where the ONLY stores you can go to, are Walmart, Target, or a fancy Shopping Malls because all of these ma and pa shops were forced to close. Imagine if the only places open were those stores because all of our little ones couldnt fight the fight anymore. YOU CAN HELP! Today and EVERY day, but ESPECIALLY today, I urge you all to buy just a couple things today at one of your favorite stores. REALLY make a difference in your community! Keep your money at home where it counts. And theres nothing better than the nice stuff under that tree! Hope to see you out & about today! (Ill be shipping more wreaths today! Some of you have already received yours and are THRILLED which makes THIS small business wicked happy! Thank you so much for your support of OUR business year round
