So I dont know if anyone else has seen this yet, seeing as theres been no talk of it I figured Id post it here. This is an official shot of Henry Cavil as Superman in the upcoming movies Superman Vs Batman: Dawn of Justice. We were told a long time ago that there may well have been a number of changes that were going to be made to the Superman costume in this iteration, and while I was hoping for a little more red, it seems that those changes are minor to say the least. Whether its just this picture or whether this was the intentions of the creators, Cavil looks a fair bit older in this movie, which concerns me a little, Im not really interested in having a movie akin to Dark Knight Rises, where we suddenly skip the story forward by 10 years. However, lets keep those theories for another time, and focus on the costume its self. It sures to hell doesnt look bad, but Im still not seeing the Superman costume I really want. Theyve done a good job (apparently) on the Batman costume, returning it to the comic classic grey rather than all black with plates every which way, so why are they having such a hard time on Superman, making him look so dark and brooding? It cant simply be because they don;t understand the character, at least someone on the team would have pointed that out by now surely. Now Im not saying that we need Supermans red skivvies back, but why cant we have some red? Why is the blue so dead looking? I mean, I said in a post a while back that while Christopher Reeve taught us that men can fly, Henry Cavil reminded us of that fact. All the same, Im so glad there was no Kryptonite in that movie, otherwise Superman might have fashioned them into knives and razor blades and start cutting himself - the movie made him seem so emo, with its washed out colours and nearlly grey costume. The obvious differences in this suit are the slight change in texture, a slightly, but not by much, bluer hue, and a yellow belt. Yey, were getting there it seems. Now if only they could make those fins that run up and down his sides red, and we mat actually have something here! What do you think of the costume?
