So I go down to Bluffers Park today to visit the swans and take some photos. I am quietly sitting on the wall just watching them and speaking to them. I was happy to see a small group of Mute Swans in the mix because I had only seen the Trumpeter Swans over the winter. Out of the blue - the three Mute Swans come over to me and set themselves up literally only an arms length away from me. They surrounded me and started grooming and then all three put their little heads in their wings and took a nap. I was in heaven. They stayed like that for the longest time with their little eyes closed - so close to me that I could have reached out and touched all three. Out of the blue this child comes running down and throws a fistful of stones at them. I freakin lost it on his parents. What idiot allows their child to do that? And what idiot would let their child terrorize a group of birds - all of whom were bigger than him? I know that the swans there are more docile than normal but they are still capable of defending themselves and doing a great deal of damage to a small child. They can break bones and they have dozens of very sharp little teeth in those beaks! Some people really need to be culled from the herd and asap. Absolutely idiots.
