So I got Sioux a kindle Fire Stick for Xmas. We got rid of Cable - TopicsExpress

So I got Sioux a kindle Fire Stick for Xmas. We got rid of Cable TV nearly a year ago, and have been watching over-the-air local stations, and using Youtube, Hulu, and Amazon prime to stream programming over the web. Its worked out great. were not really missing cable TV at all. The Downside of this scheme is that I cant use my PC while were watching something. If she watches a cooking show, which Im not really into, or a fashion show like Project Runway (about the last thing Id ever want to watch, myself), I cant go online or play a game or something else to pass the time. So the fire Stick really works out -- she gets to watch all her content without using my PC to do it. Now I know some would say Roku and Chrome have the same thing, but youre be both right and wrong. Roku and Chrome are similar devices, but what they offer is not as polished or as powerful as this. This apparently is a fully functional dual-core CPU, similar to the Chinese stick PC that I posted about a few months back. It has the Android operating system (but thats hidden behind the user interface), and its strength is that using it is almost identical to using your cable box. In fact, some of the free public TV stations are shown in the same grid display that you see on your cable box, which makes it really convenient. The user interface is very slick, very customizable, and right away, with hardly any reading or research, we were able to get right in and watch exactly what we wanted, effortlessly. The configuration is quick and painless. Plus, its just $39 -- half of what Roku and Chrome are.
