So I got off of my motorcycle in front of my store, and started taking off my helmet. Her: Excuse me. Me: yes? Her: Can you not ride your motorcycle on the sidewalk in front of our store? Me: I rode past your doors more slowly than the average person walks. Her: well we have small children coming in and going out of the doors and its dangerous. Me: Im acutely aware that there is traffic going in and out of your doors, which is why I reduced my speed. Was your business open when I rode past? Her: Thats not the point. Me: Well, unless you employ small children, I believe it is. Her: You know its illegal to ride on the sidewalk, right? Me: It isnt, actually. We are on private property. Her: Its not illegal to ride a motorcycle on the sidewalk? Me: Not on private property, no. And she walked away. I pulled up on the sidewalk because I dont have dedicated motorcycle parking in front of my building, and I would rather someone not knock my bike over with their car. I ride my bike to work maybe 3x per year. Its very rare, and I would never ride in front of a business while they were open no matter how fast I was going. So meh. Crappy start to my day.
