So I got this nice email from David Cameron today - he obviously went up to Embry to get some peace so he could write a few letters. His message is slightly disturbing - as a few commentators have said today, his only argument for voting NO is that the UK will miss us. Its true that weve done great things together over the years. Its not true that we gave the world democracy - that was the Greeks - and generally speaking the UK didnt even give its colonies democracy. Apart from our shared history, there really are no reasons here to keep the UK together. I was also struck by the use of the words desperately and fear - is Cameron desperately afraid of something? Also the no second chance phrase - never understood that one, if were so loved. Doesnt Christian Dave remember the parable of the prodigal son? Anyway, despite his passion, I see no reason here to believe that a NO vote means a brighter future for my children or anyone elses in Scotland. So Im going to have to stick with YES. My question is, how can I let Dave down gently? Id hate to see him heartbroken because of me.
