So I had a convo with someone last night, and the topic of the convo was protocol. He asked a very good question. Why is it that people fit protocol to suit their needs/situation? It had me really thinking of an answer . I look at the set; especially the DFW set and see that protocol has been changed or redone to fit into our world. When I say OUR, I mean the sport bike side of it. If you look at the legacy clubs who were here for over 20 years plus, you have to ask yourself. Did they go through the same BS that were going through today? Why or how did it work for them? It worked because they followed and been following what has been passed down since the very beginning in 1903……Protocol. We have changed it to fit us, rather than the other way around. Too many people want to be Chief and not be a soldier and learn and absorb the tradition or even the heritage. Too many prideful selfish muthafukas instead of humble people and getting on one accord to resolve an issue. We have 2 big cities less than 50 miles from each other and you have clubs in both cities who dont interact with each other. Or when asked about so and so club, your response is, I dont know, never heard of them. Since when, did 50 miles become to far to ride to go kick it with people who share a common interest? Most of the newer clubs formed here in DFW, are from people leaving a situation/club where they either didnt agree with the rules, had an issue with another member, or just plain didnt like the direction of the club they were in. Every year I see at least 4-5 new clubs pop up, at the same time see 4-5 clubs shutdown and become non-existent. Sometimes theres more clubs that pop-up than there are ones that shut down. Why arent they following the timeframe of being independent before starting up another club let alone prospecting with another club? I know quite a few people that left one club and swallowed their pride and prospected with another club. Why start up another club when there is over 130 clubs currently in the metroplex? Thats ridiculous. So lets do the math here. There are 52 weekends in a year and over 130 clubs in the DFW. Now everyone wants to throw a party for their annual, but your date lands on another club who was here way before yours. So what do you do? Thats where the division comes into play. Well no one came to support my club, so you know what F*em; well do our own thing. With that being said you have more and more clubs starting up and doing theyre own thing and wont show respect to the legacy clubs that did the ground work and laid the foundation for us to be in DFW. How do we resolve that you ask??? Its called the Chain. Its a collective body/organization to bridge the gaps and create structure. A organization where we can govern ourselves and have one place to go to for information and issues. Still not convinced? Your wanting to expand your club to another city or state even. You have no clue who the dominant is in that area. But you know you cant just go somewhere fly colors with a territory rocker. Well if the Chain has a chapter in that city; then a call can be made to that Chain chapter to get the ground work going for you. Still not convinced?? Well Joe Blow wants to start a club in Louisiana with the same name as your club, and the patch is almost the same. Well they go to that area Chain and give them the name and the patch. That Chain can make calls to the other Chain chapters asking about the name, they can say no, theres already a club with that name and similar patches. That will prevent any beef or issues later on down the road. Classes can be organized to train/teach these new-comers. Auuhhh man Dirty Money no one needs that. Yeah they do. When you have a prospect introducing himself to an office of another club especially a President by his government name… You have to ask why arent theyre sponsors or Prez teaching them that? I can go on an on about this, but I wont. I will say this though…….Lets bridge these gaps and do away with all these differences and get on one accord.
