So..... I had occasion to be utilizing a banking service the other day. I intentionally ignored the sign saying to remove my hat. Why? Because I saw a woman inside wearing the full Muslim Garb except her nose eye area. I waited , but not for long.... for the request to remove my hat. I kind of prodded this request because I made sure I made eye contact with the greeter. And.... it was requested of me while I stood two people behind the woman in line. I said, I am declining that request to the person. They said that I would not be served if I did not comply. And ......the firecrackers went off. Young Lady .... I said.. if I am to remove MY hat to be served by this institution on which this person has an account and wrote me a check for payment on, then that woman must remove her head gear as well. She replies with we make allowances for religious beliefs. I looked at her for about 5 seconds and said Bull shit. You have that rule to prevent people from disguising themselves and perpetrate a robbery. Unless you are claiming that the rule is a discriminatory one in which it only applies to other than Muslims (and she tried interrupting me, I put my hand up and continued) I am an American citizen and veteran on American soil, in a facility that is governed by American Law, I am not in a Muslim country governed by Sharia, (and she tries to interrupt again), where MY rights are decided by some cleric or corporate owner. Throw me out, or make me remove my hat without making that woman complying as well. I will sue YOU and this bank. The security guard was approaching, but stopped on that wording. .I went further in saying .... I for one am tired of MY rights being trampled upon in the name of equal rights for all, where equal is NOT the application. THAT garnered a concurrence among other patrons, causing two men to put back on their ball caps. I imagine it was the Bank manager who finally came to the scene and said let it go for now to the greeter and security guard. I just looked at him for some words he might say. Instead, for some reason, he just looked at me, gave me the thumbs up, smiled and walked off. The woman in the outfit? Oh, yes, she had to light the fire further with a passive aggressive manuever. But I shut her down with absolution. She came to me and asked if her garments offended me or her wearing it. I said No. I put NO fault upon you or your religious beliefs. You are following your code, and it is to be honored. However, I take offense to rules being made that will only be applied to some and not enforced upon others. Then I asked her if I offended her by standing up to that principle. She just looked at me and said you are man of conviction and spirit, and I take no offense You are we say Wahi (or wahy or however spelled), have a good day, please. I stood there and shuffled to the teller as it was my turn. No one knew what the wahy was, but figured it was something like a bless you. So.... I looked it up. Now I know why the manager gave me the thumbs up, the security guard stopped in his tracks, and the muslim woman went in peace. Because I was right. Too bad if you dont like it. Thats irrelevant, like you.
