So..... I had posted earlier looking for someone that might work at the Little Rock Childrens Hospital, because I wanted to play a few tunes for the kids. I went to the information counter and asked for the person in charge of patient relations. I parked about a mile away, so of course I was sweating like crazy, dressed in all black, and looking like I normally look. I ended up talking to a super nice lady named Sandy, but it was just too short of notice. I talk to her for a bit about possibly coming back in December for their holiday programming, and I plan to make that happen. I walk out to start my journey back to the van, but decided to take a more direct way this time. I see a guy walking up the sidewalk with tears in his eyes and obviously distressed. I wasnt meaning to catch up to him so fast, but it happened anyway. He looked back at me a few times, so I asked him where he was from. He tells me hes from Monticello AR and he got to the hospital yesterday. We stood on the corner for a few mins, and made small talk, but this guy needed more than that, so I started asking more direct questions. He tells me his 15 year old son TJ is in coma because of a four wheeler accident that happened on Sunday. This guy just got out of jail yesterday after spending 100 days locked up. (note the timing) He kept saying he didnt understand why this happened and that hes told his son to be careful on the ATV 100 times. He was blaming himself for a ton of things, and feeling responsible for his sons accident. It was a pretty desperate, lonely, and hurting situation. We talked for about an hour and God showed up to allow Tim to smile a few times, and to laugh at a couple of my ridiculous stories from extremely awkward shows and situations Ive allowed myself to be a part of over the years. He kept saying he and TJ had plans, and wanted to have a better relationship when he got out of jail, etc. I encouraged him to keep those plans, and that he and TJ had better be hitting me up on Facebook when TJ is better, because Im going to play a backyard BBQ at their house. Before I left, I asked Tim if I could pray for him and TJ. He immediately extended his hand to me, so it seemed like an open moment to pray that God would reveal himself to Tim in a way he never thought possible, and that today would be a new beginning of his journey, and that his past is left in the past. I prayed that TJ would have complete healing, and he would know the power of God as well. Please join me to pray for Tim, TJ, and everyone that is affected by this accident. Also, please remember how important it is to never miss a moment that could be used by God to change someones life forever, as well as your own. You guys are the best, and I appreciate that you guys keep encouraging me to post about the adventures God puts before me.
