So I have a prayer request... Last night at Paducah International Raceway, I was approached by a woman before a driver interview during intermission who asked me if I was the announcer. I told her that I was, and she proceeded to tell me that last night was her first night at PIR. Normally I take that news in passing, and thank them for coming out maybe announce them over the PA later on, but she continued to tell me the story of what led her and her husband to PIR. Her husband had been ill for some time and was getting worse. While he still had time, his wife encouraged him to live his dream. His bucket list was to go see historic dirt tracks. She went on to say that so far they had visited about three tracks and loved the description of PIR. After being their for the first part of the night she had said that PIR had by far been their favorite and most memorable, because how we took care of the fans. Later on I walked up and handed them a few prize packs, and thanked them for coming out, to which he responded, This has been a night to remember. Im beyond humbled that one of this guys dying wishes was to come to my track and that it was his favorite experience on the road so far. Say a prayer for this family, and encourage Christ to give him many more years of dirt tracks. These are the kinds of people I love to see at PIR. The old track has a lot of stories, and these two people just added to her tales. Thanks for sharing that with me last night, God bless you both.
