So, I have corn sensitivity possible allergy--I believe it is just associated with a leaky gut and gmo corn. Most of the time it is impossible to get gmo free corn--organic or not. But this time I ate some popcorn which has always been an issue (looking back to childhood with after movie migraines and later in life adding night time hives). I had already had some soy contact and was feeling quite itchy. So it seemed ok to just go ahead and enjoy some popcorn (which is always gmo free since they havent been able to modify it and still have it pop)--itching is itching right? Not right...it has been over 24 hours and my gut is very upset with me, while the itching has left the building, I am still in constant gut gurgle which I have not had for months now. UGH! Here is my question...how long do we really need to go before reintroducing foods that we are sensitive to? Do I really need to go my entire life not eating most foods...is a treat ever worth it? I have been dairy intolerant since childhood which is common with wheat intolerance and celiac and unfortunately so is corn intolerance. I went a year without dairy and was thrilled to find out that most dairy now is very tolerable--the more fermented the better of course. I dont recall the process I went through to see if dairy was ok--I am sure it had something to do with greek yogurt and kefir. I must admit, too much cheese does blemish my cheeks and give me an occasional headache--but in moderation it is never a problem. When you have as many food restrictions as I do a little acne is a fair trade--although I know that anything that shows on my skin is a reflection of my micro-biome. Anyway...it is a choice I make. I would love to hear your stories about food reintroduction. Here is a link that gives some clear guidelines on food elimination...unfortunately it is not clear about reintroduction. wholehealthchicago/3534/allergy-elimination-diet/
