So, I have just returned from marvellous short holiday in Majorca, where I was the guest of the wonderful Emmeline Gee. Resplendent in my Shipley Bantams Wembley Tshirt, (finally collected from Steve Gorringe at the Gillingham game on Saturdy, thanks Steve) we cycled along the sea front in Palma to Arenal. The following day Emmeline took me up to the mountains above Alora. We had a good hike followed by a superb lunch. We felt a bit guilty being watched by the sheep at the restaurant, but it really was splendid lamb. Sorry sheep We went to the North Coast yesterday, where we walked to a lovely small cove where we ate some great fish. Following a stiff walk, we drove along the north coast in Emmy’s trusty Nissan Figaro, Dolly. Dolly turns as many heads in Majorca as Emmy herself and it was funny to have people waving at us. There is only one other Figaro on the Island, apparently. Palma is an elegant, well maintained city with an abundance of good restaurants. The highlight is the cathedral, in particular the stained glass windows. I had always thought of Majorca as being just about Brits getting drunk on cheap holidays but it really is a wonderful place with stunning scenery and an interesting history. I had some very good food, got a bit a fitter and some great company, Can’t wait to go back!
