So I havent posted since the first week in January. Since the first week in the new year Ive been absent and it was a silent absence. I was drowned. I was dead to Facebook for a few weeks and I wondered if anyone would notice. Its the proverbial tree falling in the woods with nobody around to hear it. Its the silence you hear when one of us drowns for lack of a boat. WHAT IF YOU HAVENT GOT A BOAT? BUT YOURE TRYING YOUR BEST TO STAY AFLOAT… FIGHTING FOR A LIFE! What if a boat is just a decent life? A life with hope and opportunity? Who would deny anyone that? Who doesnt deserve a safe, healthy life and a chance for happiness? Everyday someone drowns in silence… sometimes entire families drown without a sound and life goes on around them… their absence unnoticed. I wish drowning came with a huge splash… a huge noise and maybe a sink hole that scares the mess out of us so wed notice. People would feel it when we lose even one. I know its wrong to steal a boat. I know its wrong to steal a rope. Youre wrong if you decide to do whatever it takes to survive and escape drowning but all around you the world condones, celebrates and rewards those who lie, cheat, steal and sell their souls for success. Success, the ultimate boat… the speed boat… the 150 foot yacht. Lance Armstrong was a hero before he was caught red handed. Like yall didnt know he was lying! Dont make me start a list of soulless successes up in here… people who would sell their mommas soul for a bigger boat. I know folks like that… so do you! You dont have to look very far... Lets raise the standard, the expectations. Require of one another that we reach into the waters, grab a hand a pull. If youre afraid of being pulled in, throw a life line. Save someone from drowning this year. I wanna be a Life Guard… how about you? I know I must sound demented… like your crazy family member on a holiday rant. Well, Im just getting warmed up! Im going to sign off for now so I can listen to the State of the Union Address. I wouldnt want to miss hearing how well were all doing. M
