So I just got off the phone with a non native college student... - TopicsExpress

So I just got off the phone with a non native college student... She was writing a paper on environmental and human impacts and threw some tough questions at me. Really tough questions that hinted at a real ignorant one sided education system. So after all of these supposedly Intelligent questions I asked if I could ask her a question. She said Sure! I asked, How as a non native do you really feel about living on stolen land? I have always wondered this since I was young, Somewhere in your soul that must just eat you up that this land was basically stolen and taken from the original people. She replied, Why do you want to know that? I said, Because my people want to know what that feels like. If there is any guilt associated with that. She then said, I dont think that is a fair question. My ancestors didnt do that. I said, Well someone did! You mean to tell me that that part was somehow erased from the history books magically? Then I said Look, I am writing a paper for my people. She hung up on me. So I guess this is a legitimate question, If you are a non native and reading this, I like that college student am curious. How as a non native do you really feel about living on stolen land?
