So, I just had a musician ask me to review their music, while I was in the middle of reviewing 58 for a company that pays me to outside of the enormous amount of work it takes to run a label, and got mad when I sent them links to where they could go and have me review it, and my consulting email where they could have a meeting where I work hourly and they can talk to me as long as they want. Now I see artists on a daily basis want to be paid for their long hours of practice and money they put into their equipment, constant anger at venues for not wanting to pay them. I am still paying on a degree that cost me $60,000, and thats one of them. I buy multitudes of books to hone my skills, attend conferences, take tons of time to network, put in 16 hour days, so....how am I different from you? You dont want to pay me for my time and expertise? Doesnt that make you just like the venues you complain about? You arent willing to put money into your career, but you want people like me to not only give it to you, but to also work free for you? Ironic.
