So I just read a summary of the Kardashian/West nuptials -- & as the travelling wedding celebration was described I found it interesting these were the places chosen: Palace of Versailles(18th century): Overall, the palace was built to impress. “Versailles is a mirage, a sumptuous and theatrical entertainment. It is also a manifestation of glory and power imposed to a great extent by art, luxury, and magnificence,”...until the French Revolution...Then, on to: Forte di Belvedere, in Florence, Italy(16th century): In addition to being a fortification, the Belvedere was meant to be a sign of Medici prestige. The villa inside the fortress was designed to be elegant and did not adhere to the military purposes of the rest of the fort. Since the villa was meant to be used as the residence of the Grand Duke during times of unrest or epidemic, it was built as a comfortable, luxurious palace, another sign of Medici domination in Florence. Castlemartyr Resort: Located in County Cork, Ireland, the luxury Castlemartyr Resort consists of a grand 17th century country manor house that sits adjacent to the ruins of an 800-year-old-castle. Do we see a theme here? And what does it say about how these people perceive themselves? And what does it say about the rest of the world that these people are celebrated, and emulated? And....do we remember what happened to the people who built and originally inhabited these buildings?
