So, I just realized I did this yet again to one of my friends. I know so many amazing people, and many have gone into some tough fields. Sometimes when I have a question about something that falls in their realm of expertise, I contact that person (police officer, attorney, judge, surgeon, actor, pianist, etc.) to ask advice/ input. It occurred to me, though , that in doing so I may be making them feel that its why Im friends with them rather than them knowing weve been friends for a while and they also happen to know more about most subjects than I do. So, if I do that to any of you, my apologies. Youre my friends, not my hired experts, and I want to make sure Im not just coming to you when I need advice/ input in a certain area. This only occurred to me recently, but Ive been doing it for a while (have a legal question? ask my friend who is an LEO or attorney. Question about surgery? ask my friends in the medical field) Im not reducing you to your job, I promise. I just trust people that I know and who know me if I need advice. Nobodys said anything, I just realized I dont want people to think theyre my lawyer friend, cop friend, professor friend , reprobate friend( Craig Odum), etc.
