So I just watched the Beaver creek Walmart footage and Im a bit shocked. If you close your eyes and listen to the video it sounds a bit terrifying but it in no way corresponds with whats actually happening. Never did the victim (Yes hes a victim) ever point at anybody. He never threatened anybody and never did anything suspicious. He stood in the pet aisle talking on a cell phone and poked a couple bags of what I assume are dog or cat food. People walked by him and an older woman and two boys even entered the aisle left the aisle and returned to the same aisle with no concern what so ever. A person with the intent to enter a Walmart armed with an automatic rifle is going to do the exact opposite of what this guy did. Its not normal behavior to stand in the pet aisle on a cell phone. The caller created a perfect storm. He said that the gunman was pointing the gun at children (he did not). At no point did the dispatcher ask if the gun was fired or if the gunman threatened anybody. What kind of madman goes into a Walmart with a gun and stands in the pet aisle talking on a cell phone for 5 minutes poking cat and dog food. This in my opinion is 10x worse than the fatal shooting that occurred a few weeks ago. The cops never said drop the weapon. The caller made the situation fabricated which led to fear. The dispatcher was led to believe just like the police that the gunman had pointed the gun at children which immediately made the situation much dire. The FBI is doing an investigation and they will find 2 things. The caller was way off and the police didnt follow procedure and if they dont than there is something really questionable about our justice system. This caller was just over reacting and he should of known it when he saw several people walk by and even enter the aisle with no regard what so ever.
