So I know everybody is excited about this free lunch program and I dont think there is anything wrong with that but I would ask that before you start to rejoice in the fact that all the vinton elem. kids are getting their food for free. Please read why. its because 90% of our kids families qualify for food stamps and that in itself is a terrible tragedy. What are we becoming when 90% of our citizens cannot make it without the government helping them buy groceries. Personally I think that if the government stocks your pantry why not pack your child a sandwich!!! I am in no way against food stamps and assistance but there must be a line drawn at some point. I believe these programs are very important for children, seniors and also people going through a rough patch trying to get back on their feet. I just think too many people are relying on the government to feed them and their children. I also noticed the person over the program stated they hope it will expand. I hope theyre not talking about more people needing food stamps. Again Im glad that this is happening and believe that if we are gonna give away free stuff this is where it needs to go( our kids). Im just upset about the mentality and condition of our families and our economy.
