So I *love* this song. It is effortlessly intimate, graceful and plaintive. Over and over again, I try to tell myself that we, could never be more than friends... BUT - there is something else about this song that is beautiful, if not bittersweet. Donny Hathaway, who is singing with Roberta Flack, had deep emotional issues. He committed suicide in 1979 in NYC - and ever since then, Flack has made sure all royalties from this smash -every penny- go to Hathaways wife and kids.
