So I made it through the fourth of July, and Im feeling a little more human ....amazing what sleep will do. So a little more about my situation. Not a great thing, but now I can add federal indictment to my list of accomplishments. The way the feds work in these situations...I plead guilty to my charge about 3 weeks ago but I dont get sentenced until August 29th at the earliest. And what I didnt know, is that with two prior drug convictions, I qualify as a career criminal, complete with all the sentencing enhancements. So I may be looking at a significant amount of time in the clink clink. I believe there is some reason for optimism, however -- after taking my plea, I was released on a personal surety bond to the drug program where I currently reside. Would they let me out if they were going to lock me up again in two months? Im hoping not (though my lawyer does not share my optimism) There is not a damn thing I can do about the above mentioned situation except stay in my program until I go back to court and keep a positive mental attitude. Plan A -- If I dont get remanded to Federal Custody I will purchase a bicycle on August 30th, and begin training and fundraising for the Fort Lauderdale to Key West AIDS Smart Ride. Plan B - I I do get remanded to Federal Custody, I will make the best of a bad situation -- continue my treatment in prison, and returning to my first career out of college --- teaching. I can teach English and help other inmates get their GEDs while Im incarcerated. So thats all for now -- share my story with people. Ill be working on my interactive journal project through Facebook in the coming weeks. Hopefully folks can learn from my mistakes and I certainly can use all the positive energy I can get in the weeks and months to come. :-)
