So, I own one Dachshund and a German shepherd. I occasionally like to look around on rescue sites and such, just for the heck of it really. (as i dont plan to adopt any time soon) What really bothers me, is how nasty some of the descriptions are written out about the website in particular. For example: a website I recently looked at was an Ohio Dachshund Rescue. The writer specifically wrote that if you put an application in and you do NOT have a fenced in yard you will automatically be declined for adoption. ... I live on two acres of land, and regularly work with my dogs on obedience, and they love and respect me enough that they know better than to run off. Not only that, but they dont leave my site, or my side. What makes me upset is, how can you turn down people for simply not having a fenced in yard... Yes i understand that some people arent going to be as responsible as others... but it still is aggravating that a person would be automatically declined for not having a proper yard. My yard it proper, as would be others yards without a fence. Im sure of that.
