So I poked my head into the Youth Group meeting last night at my church just to say hello, and they were talking about life lessons. My friend Deb was running the discussion and she asked me if I had a life lesson I wanted to share. I was moving tables and chairs so I told her I would get back to them. I didnt get back to them last night, but I thought long and hard on the topic since then, and I came up with this...and Im speaking from experience here...forgiveness may not be the key to happiness, because its a bit more personal and complicated than that, but forgiveness and happiness sure go hand in hand. In other words, ones willingness to forgive is directly proportional to the level of ones happiness. Forgiveness isnt easy, but it is necessary. Life is tough, folks, and people will hurt you. Thats a fact. Your family, your best friend, and the person you hold dearest in your heart will all hurt you. It may be accidental, or worse, it may be on purpose, but it will happen. They may or may not be sorry that they hurt you...and that may make the hurt worse. Forgive them anyway. Im telling you...at the end of they day, you can only control you. You are the captain of your own ship. Stay the course and keep fighting the good fight. When you are wronged, dont retaliate. Forgive. No good deed goes unpunished. Thats okay...forgive, and keep doing good! Its a wonderful world and were only given one life to live, so lets make the most of it. Dont worry, be happy...be happy and forgive.
