So. I say this a lot. I say how proud I am of an episode, of working with an artist and with my team. And I mean it every time. I do. But there is something special about this episode for me. Maybe its the power of the story. It’s about family, loss, and redemption and is so poignant that I had to stretch my creative abilities to tell it right. Maybe it’s because of the friendships that form and solidify through the power of collaboration. You ask a person to put their life story in your hands, and work your ass off to treat it with the respect it deserves. How can that not create a powerful bond? But perhaps I feel so strongly because this is a good time to say that I won’t be directing too many more of these. And as I look back on this body of work, this episode feels like the culmination of everything I’ve learned. All the searching, all the clueless choices, all the trust and faith the people around me have placed in me. I’m so proud and lucky to be here. Without all the help along the way, I wouldn’t even have the right to call myself a filmmaker. It’s a designation I feel I’m just barely beginning to earn. I hope this piece resonates with you. It does for me. Thank you to Brian D.
