So, I see that there are some new Allsop/Allsopps on the block. I would like each and every one to know that I did venture for this group, that is--those of us residing in the United States, to celebrate during this coming summer as an extended family with a 2014 Family Reunion. After asking members individually if they were considering attending, with no reply from 99.9% and only less than a handful indicated their interest as well, I saw no reason to continue with the research of reserving a venue. I wanted a location half way some where along the East Coast of the United States for us to congregate. I considered two locations in Georgia, checked them out on the web and even tabulated airfare costs from both ends of the spectrum. At this juncture, I am asking again for input from all of us, even if some or many of us cannot venture out. Please do not be ashamed to say that you cannot attend because your pocketbook has holes which leaks your coins, there hold on to them is difficult. We all do not have lots of money considering the economy. Some of us are on fixed incomes, some of us do not have jobs, some of us may have illnesses and high medical payments, some of us may have large families and there goes the coins I know, I raised 4 of them, especially, if you may have had twins like I had, always have to shop for two when it is shopping time and having to keep a full larder all the time, especially if they love food and were always in the fridge. Again, some of us, like myself, have may have huge student loan payments because we love to study too much So, I propose...2015. We all may be able to put away a little something, monthly if we are serious to come and meet each other, get to know and understand each other as an extended family, particularly for those of us who have always been dying to known if there were any more of us on this planet--I was one of them and so was my sister Carolyn, from New York. Now that I have found so many of us, can we travel sometimes to meet each other--one year keep a local reunion, the other year, a travel reunion or maybe a reunion every other year? There maybe some of us who only like to keep to our own group and do not care to venture out thinking they are introverted or something or just feel that their part of this extended family is better than some other part. Please remember that if we are Christians, that is, followers of Jesus Christ, who had commanded us to love one another as Christ loved the Church. So, how about voicing your opinion on the Family Reunion thing nah, for those of us who are on this side of the planet. We have close blood in other islands who cannot travel for health reasons and I know that some of them would love for some of us there to come visit! Now, I propose, a 2015 reunion for either...Bermuda, Puerto Rico or the US Virgin Islands. You may also want to sound off on another island, but I am considering these mainly because the air fare would not be too expensive, most of us have not traveled there before, as well as it is close to home for those of us who may get home sick. I will begin gathering the as much info now as well as ideas for a program so most of us can get the big picture. There may be those who are in the United Kingdom who may want to attend for they may have never traveled to the Caribbean before and especially if they may want to come meet us. THIS has been a long sounding board but I want to express my thoughts on the subject. How about expressing yours! Committees are still open and my ideas are not the only ones that count. We are a group and group communicates and group shares!
