So I spent most of yesterday and today with my friend, who has been recovering in hospital, not only from major abdominal surgery Friday morning, but from having been DEAD for TEN WHOLE MINUTES Saturday morning!! Yesterday, he was in, and mostly OUT of consciousness while hooked up to a ventilator that did the breathing for him, and more IV feeds than I ever want to see again in my lifetime!! When I walked into the ICU wing this morning, what I saw put a huge RELIEVED smile on my face and so much gratitude to God in my heart!! He was not only NO LONGER on the ventilator, but sitting up, eyes wide open, colour returned to his face, only an oxygen mask that he was breathing from on his own resting on his face, and the same old Corey smile I used to dread!! We talked, and joked, I nagged and frustrated him as usual, and the laughs we shared are priceless to me!! This evening, they removed most of his IV feeds too, and he was driving the nurses CRAZY!! When I received the frightening call from the ICU early yesterday morning, I really hadnt known what to expect. After seeing him the way he had been ALL DAY yesterday, I was afraid of what Id walk in to and see this morning!! Thank and Praise you God!! We get to torture and bug each other for a while longer!!
