So I think after about 5 months of this new way (for me) of changing guitar strings, I think Im finally becoming comfortable with it. Before all the luthiers and musicians start chiming in with advice on how to change strings, let me preface that Ive been chainging my own guitar strings since I was 13 years old. I even considered myself somewhat of a string changing expert (as Adam Wesley will corroborate), clocking myself one time at about 4 minutes and 30 seconds for a full string change and somewhat in tune. The only thing is, these days the only string that I like now for my electric, due to their slinkiness and somewhat mellow and musical tone, are these DR Pure Blues which are wound on a round core, as opposed to a Hex core, which you may or may not know is prone to wrap slippage, leading to an UN-intonatable string. So after pulling my hairs out by having to go through (at least) two packs of strings at each string change because the wound strings wont intonate, I finally feel comfortable using this other method, which involves using a double crimp. So where am I going with all this? Come out tonight to THE STAGE to see my new, properly intonated strings with ALICASTRO. Show starts 10pm.
