So I took my son hunting for the first time this past saturday. I havent been hunting since I was 14. Those of you that know me know THAT was a while ago... anyway, after I woke him up from his nap (we got in the woods at 5:30 and not aloud to shoot until sunrise and he was tired)... we sat for a few hours with nothing in sight. So I got smart and told him that I would go drive for him (i.e. try to push the deer to him). Anyway, long story short, I got lost in the woods, came out of the woods on the wrong side, finally made it to a road I recognized and found my way back to the gravel road my truck was on. As I walked on this road, I noticed a doe standing on the road in front of me. We had a stare down for a while and she ran away (I had nothing to shoot her with anyway, as I wasnt hunting). I made my way back into the woods to where my boy should have been, and he was gone. I panicked because I knew there was a kind of weird guy in the woods and got nervous... but anyway, I started to yell for my boy and he finally yelled back and I found him. I asked him why he wasnt where I left him and he said he saw a doe and followed it to the gravel road where he saw someone walking on the road and thought it was the weird guy and didnt want to go out there. Smart thinking son.... needless to say, we called it a day and went to breakfast. Good times!
