So I took my sons 2007 dodge caliber with around 140,000 miles - TopicsExpress

So I took my sons 2007 dodge caliber with around 140,000 miles (purchased new by my husband) into Klaben in kent, ohio because it seem to be running high, issues in rain, steering etcetera. Told them I didnt know what was wrong. Got a call back that its was the alternator, but on top off that looking under the car, I was told its unsafe to drive by the service tech because the front end is completely rusted out and they were afraid to put on lift and said this was unusual and said I should Chrysler customer service and gave me the number. They said (Chrysler) they wound call Klaben to see whats up. They talked to another service person at Klaben which told them it was environmental and they have seen this before. So Chrysler told me there was nothing they could do. My husband is out of town and I feel taken advantage of because Im told a new front end would cost over $ 2,700. I called my boss for his opinion and he went to Klaben Saturday morning to look the car for me and talk to service . The same service person told him a totally different story that this was unusual and hes never seen this before. At this point we decided not trust Klaben and told them not to do any work on it and we would take it to another Chrysler dealer to look at. In the meantime, my husband did some research and apparently this seems to be an issue with the subframe rusting completely out other owners on the same car. I am posting this because I am very upset that I feel taken advantage of, given the run round and no one seems to want to take responsibility for manufacturer defect. So now Monday morning I need to get this car into somewhere else and hopefully I can get a representative from Chrysler to take a look at. In the meantime, my son had no car . To be continued .......
