So, I wake up around 4:15 today (working nights) and I get on FB first and I see so many people talking about the call that cost the Cowboys the game, so I watch the highlights of the game. Several things come to mind. 1. Im a Browns fan so I couldnt care less who won, otherwise I wouldve woken up to watch the game 2. Even if it was incorrectly ruled a catch, it wasnt a TD, therefore you cant assume they were going to score a TD and not to mention, if they did, Rodgers wouldve had 3-1/2 min to score a FG. So I would assume he can do that. 3. By NFL Rule Definition, that wasnt a catch..in fact, watching the Highlights, I immediately went from, HOLY CRAP WHAT A CA... to damn, ball came out, incomplete. It doesnt matter how many steps he took or if he dove and stretched out or if he spit out his mouthpiece. The catch brought him to the ground and you have to maintain possession all the way through the catch. Making a Football Move doesnt count in this scenario because hes going to the ground regardless if he lounges to the goalline, 1st down, sidelines or not. I only type this because as all of you know, Ive been reffing Flag forever and I deal with the defender wouldnt get out of my way, so I had to run into him or my favorite but I was going for the ball Reffing is a hard job, especially when players dont know the rules.
