So I want to throw something out there to you all, you know I am always trying to come up with different, new ways to do things and I have something for you with refeeds and stoking the metabolism. For those of you who do 1 higher carb day a week, or refeed, whatever, most are going 6 days on deficit calories to burn the most fat they can and then they hit a high cal day to carb up, boost metabolism, thats nothing new obviously. HOWEVER, I want to suggest the following example, I have seen very dramatic changes from it here on my end and clients are starting to do it now as well. Heres an example: Sunday- High Calorie/Carb day Monday-Normal deficit diet Tuesday- Wednesday- Thursday- HIGH PROTEIN DAY, carbs fats the same as normal Friday- Normal Deficit diet Saturday- Normal Deficit diet So what I am proposing is for people to boost their protein by a significant amount- ladies 50 grams minimum, guys from 100-200 has worked really well for me. Protein gives off a very substantial amount of heat and the thermic effect of consuming it is very noticeable. Protein is very hard to get to store as fat, and when at a deficit you are really unlikely to store it as fat. I personally have went from 210 grams of protein on normal days to 400 grams, and I sweat ALL nigh long, and wake up STARVING. Here is the kicker, I have also done it 2-3 x a week and every single time I do it I wake up starving, sweatying, and down in weight. It makes perfect sense due to the thermic effects of protein, and the boost to metab and leptin are nice to get mid week instead of trying to wait 6 days to boost it again, why not hit it mid week especially when its not showing any signs of fat storage and showing EVERY sign of boosting metabolism, big time. If you are stalled out in your diet and going 6 days until your higher carb day, try protein higher for one day. I personally add whey to my diet and get it up there pretty high. Dont be afraid of it potentially disrupting fat loss I have seen nothing of the sorts only INCREASED fat loss. Hell last week I went over 300-350 protein 5 days and got leaner all week long, but I am in a phase that I am not doing it only 1 day a week so I would recommend doing it once a week to boost metab to start. Be prepared to be hungry though, esp guys who go from 200 protein to 300-400 for the day, and you will probably sweat all night or evening. Besides whey you can enjoy all kinds of low fat low carb proteins, I have also done 2-3 extra servings of fish, or lots of no carb egg white pancakes with Walden Syrup, or even made a huge batch of protein egg white pancakes, used whey mixed into pudding put that on the pancakes and used Waldens Syrup. Its a nice break mid week in the diet.
