So I wanted to share this link that I found MANY MANY years ago and its one of the most comprehensive articles on the topic that I have ever found. And now that Maia is 16 and still actively using her non-dominant hand to do everything, I can tell you that this paper is right on cue. However - Im not posting this to be a downer but posting this so that if you are working on redominating your child, you need to know that it will be a long and arduous process and that a TRUE redomination just doesnt exist. For Maia, what made and continues to make it a struggle is the fact that she has Aspbergers. Its like a double brain fight. The brain that wants no change at all and the brain that is being stretched to work differently One of the problems that came up with Maia was when she started having to take hefty notes in class (in high school). She stopped taking notes and the teachers were not happy at all. What she explained to us was that if she has to write, then shes no longer hearing or thinking -- her brain is too busy writing - so shes not learning the information - shes just a writing robot. She rather not write but just truly LISTEN. I suggested she tape the lectures - but thats not allowed in school. So they gave maia permission to use her laptop to take notes -- for some reason that causes her brain less stress (OR maybe its because shes pretending to take notes and watching youtube instead? hahahaha) Heres that article.... linkshaender-beratung.de/english/Problem.htm
