So I was commenting on a friends post about church related stuff and another of his friends mentioned the numerous reasons he and his family decided to home church...I thought I made that term up :) Anyway, we got in to a discussion and I said it kinda bothered me that so many churches are in debt, not all, please do not jump down my throat if yours isnt but, lots are. I feel very blessed to have been convicted and very thankful to finally be debt free and wish the same for everyone I know. Anyway, he made the following comment and I thought it was worth a share: I attended a church in a theater in Destin with a good friend of mine weeks back. And it was actually refreshing to see the pastor peach on debt free living from a biblical stand point. Not a health and wealth god should give you everything you want. But he actually used principles from Financial Peace University. They are even doing small groups with FPUs Total Money Make Over and another using the Store House Principle. His point was you cannot serve two masters and when you are in debt you are a slaved to your debtors. It was refreshing because a lot of the non-denominational churches are caught up in the Word of Faith movements health and wealth gospel. It is a dangerous version of Christianity.
