So, I was having a friendly chat with a comrade, who blurted out that we must support Democratic party elections because that is the only thing protecting us from fascism in a capitalist democracy. I know he studies Mussolinis takeover of Italy in the 1920, but as I pointed out to him, Adolph Hitler and the Nazi Party took over Germany because of an electoral campaign, and then successfully campaigned to create a dictatorship in the name of national security. The capitalist businessmen and career politicians in the Reichstag gave him dictatorial power through fascist enabling legislation, after a series of provocations and frame-ups of the Left as a bogeyman. After securing police powers under hysterical threat of a bogus Left red revolution, he then proceeded to create a police state and destroy all ideological enemies of the Left and Right. You know the rest, and no, just b/c a country uses electoral means for its democratic participation process does not ensure that fascism will not emerge or that the rights of the common people will be respected. WTFU, the Democrats cannot save us from fascism!
