So I was indeed a late bloomer to Facebook. This was due mostly to my sabbatical in Leavenworth, Kansas. In the time that I have embraced the social media, it was relatively reasonable and without enemy. That is until Chuck Jines. Chuck Jines and his posts appeared on my news feed that I tend to read in the evening on the weekends and before work while drinking my coffee. He is a talented photographer and his posts were welcome. Some I read and some I passed over. I like interesting people who do interesting things, regardless of their political persuasion. Me. Jines is a conservative. I am not a conservative but respect differing views as long as they are civil and reasonable. I support civil and reasonable above blind faith to my own viewpoints. Chuck Jines had numerous posts about Michael Brown and the situation in Ferguson. Chuck Jines visited Feguson, Missouri and spoke to numerous people their. His account on his own website is fascinating about the experience. I found his photographs and interviews quite striking. A day ago he began to post very provocative views about the altercation with Darren Wilson and Michael Brown, almost threatening anyone to disagree with him. After a number of such posts appeared on my feed I respectfully questioned a couple of the points he made so emphatically. In a grand huff and puff he allowed as to how he would take a bit more of his precious time to explain to the simple minded and brain dead the elements of his findings, that were not necessarily the elements of the media that was available to all. As as an aside, among his numerous posts was the one about the conflicting stories and biased reporting, both on the right and the left about the autopsy findings and the situation of general unrest in Ferguson. After the barrage of his posts poured through my news feed I dared to question a couple of elements. Neither Chuck Jines nor Hugh DeNeal wrote any of the articles in reference so why should it provoke such a personal response? While drinking my coffee this morning, Chuck Jines accused me of intellectual dishonesty because I paraphrased his statement that he claimed it appeared that Michael Brown bull rushed the officer before the final fatal blow struck the top of his head. He went up in arms that I was misquoting him As anyone might imagine, I was flabbergasted by his very personal response. He said that the problem was that I was a dishonest person. I then quoted him directly that you can see from the thread I have shared? And expressed that I was shocked that he was taking this so personally. He followed with the notion that it was nothing personal, it was just that he had dealt with do many intellectually dishonest people lately. The final immature insult that I read while filling my coffee mug, on my way to work was that he had no time for me, not for free, and that I could pay him $25 per minute if his time and he would send me a Paypal link. Of course that is stupid and insulting to be expressed by an individual ten years my senior. We have mutual friends in Carbondale and elsewhere. But here are the real kickers. As soon as he threw out the Paypal jab he immediately unfriended me so that I could not respond. Then this arrogant jackass had the nerve to copy and paste my words along with my NAME, while he posted another idiotic rant about intellectual dishonesty. Congratulations Chuck Jines, after many many moons you are my first true Facebook enemy. Your photography is great and your captions are great. As a person, at least in your online persona, you are sincerely deficient. Look me up when you make it to Southern Illinois next. Perhaps we can see eye to eye.
