So I was just nominated by Robert H Reger for the ALS cold water challenge. I realize this is a horrid disease and the donation is going toward research to get one step closer to a cure for this disease. I feel I have a good heart but what is near and dear to my heart is Magical Memories and helping LOCAL children right here in our own community who have life threatening and terminal illnesses. I dont feel one non profit is any better than another, the fact that they are all trying to help another who is less fortunate or has been diagnosed with a disease is the point of the matter. Everyone has one that is near and dear to them for a specific purpose. I have seen young innocent children who have been part of Magical Memories lose their fight to their illnesses, but knowing that the families have Forever Memories to last a life time that came from a magical moment in time is heart touching to me. The other thing, small community non profits (most of the time) have no administrative salaries,they volunteer their time but work just as hard to make the organization float as larger non profits who pay their employees. Also many corporate businesses will NOT give to a non profit unless they are a national non-profit (even if they are located in the direct community). So with this said, I am going to donate $100.00 to Magical Memories in honor of all the special children right here in our community, and instead of pouring ice over my head, I am going to do a challenge of my own and next time it rains, I will dance in the rain to bring sunshine and magic to the special children of Magical Memories. With this I challenge: Angela Marie Fegley Guthrie Penny Brehm and Lori Walters to dance in the rain for all of our special kids and share this challenge.
