So I was one of the many that reposted to help find a missing girl - TopicsExpress

So I was one of the many that reposted to help find a missing girl in our area. I dont regret doing it and I dont fault her mom for jumping on social media so quickly to help find her we would all do that in a heartbeat if it were our child. Especially since its the quickest way to spread the word! The details of how she went missing would put any of us in a panic. I beyond happy and relieved she was found safe and sound but at the same time she needs consequences as both a child and a citizen. Hiding out in someones house is not ok bc you are upset! Of course we all dont know all the specific details like how did her friend not know there was a manhunnt for her or why the friends parents didnt either but this is in no way an acceptable behavior. We would have never thought of doing this growing up..our parents would have killed us and no one would have stopped them. Society has changed and parenting has changed so much that I only hope I am doing right by my kids regardless of the world around us and lord help them if they ever pull a stunt like that on me! Shes safe at home, her name is now tarnished and her five minutes of fame should be over with. Sadly, the more people that pull stunts like this will lessen the impact and power of social media when someone truly needs to be safely found!
